Description:
Drift off to memories of sand and surf when you wear this fun bezel-set sea glass shadow-box-style ring. Express your own style as you combine elements, creating a seascape or something completely abstract. Participants will choose their sea glass treasure from the instructor’s collection and set it into a heavy sterling ring with contrasting bronze accent.
Students will Learn:
Improve your skills in sawing, texturing, bezel setting, sweat soldering, patina application, design, and ring construction as you create your own version of this fun, beach-inspired ring. You’ll get tips for setting odd shapes in tight spaces. Professional finishing techniques will be covered.
Prerequisites:
Students should have experience soldering sterling silver.
Project completion:
Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 18 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Beeswax, bench block, bench pin, leather-tipped ring clamp, metal files, scissors, terry-cloth towel, rubber or rawhide mallet, ring mandrel.
Materials in Kit:
Sterling low-dome wire, sterling sheet, bronze sheet, sterling rectangle wire, sea glass, instructions and templates, studio consumables (solder, butane, flux, patina), polishing papers, polishing cloth.
Limit:
One seat per person per class.
