Description:
Create a whimsical pair of hoop earrings using wire-weaving techniques. Not only are these earrings intricate but they are also lightweight. Students will learn how to use the modified soumak weave to create a wonderful edging that really pulls the design together.
Students will Learn:
Learn hammering, simple shaping, and organic shaping techniques.
Prerequisites:
Experience with the modified soumak weave.
Project completion:
Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 18 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Anvil pillow, bench block, chasing hammer, craft knife, cutters, magnifiers, metal files, Optivisors, ruler, task lamp, wooden ring clamp, fine-tip beading awl.
Pliers:
Chainnose without grooves, flatnose without grooves, roundnose.
Materials in Kit:
14-, 18-, 20-, 28-gauge fine-silver wire; sterling silver beads; dowel; bobbin.
Limit:
One seat per person per class.
