Description:
Create a stunning pendant by capturing a shed butterfly wing between two pieces of clear mica, and then surrounding it with beautiful textured precious metal clay washers. The washers and mica will get riveted together to secure and protect the butterfly wing. The piece is reversible, showing the other side of the butterfly wing as well. Feel free to work large, and make an incredible statement piece.
Students will Learn:
Learn how to texture silver metal clay and cut out matching washer forms. These will be riveted together, over mica and a shed butterfly wing, creating a reversible pendant.
Project completion:
Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 16 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Instructor will provide tools for use in class. Optional: Personal metal clay tools.
Materials in Kit:
28 g PMC+, riveting wire, selection of shed butterfly wings (from a butterfly conservatory), mica.
Limit:
One seat per person per class.
