Additional Information
Make a necklace with a hidden secret -- a light-up focal bead! Demonstrations of design principles including focal bead selection, ways to install an LED, and creative wire-covering ideas. Practice making and testing connections to confidently assemble illuminated necklaces. Multiple colorways will be available. Project completion may need one or two more hours. Bring an AnglerFish Power Clasp or purchase one in class.
Students will Learn:
Practice making and testing electrical connections and learn just enough about electricity to gain confidence in assembling illuminated necklaces. Learn a simple off-loom handweaving technique for making attractive tubes to cover electrical wires.
Ability to work with very small parts.
Project completion:
Project will not be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 12 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Beading mat, reading glasses/magnification, task lamp, writing materials. Optional: Anglerfish power clasp (solar or usb) if you have one; otherwise purchase in class. Optional: Focal beads from your stash.
Crimping, flush side-cutting. Optional: Roundnose, needlenose or narrow chainnose.
Materials in Kit:
Leather cord, silicone tubing, copper wire mandrel, cord end caps (4), Anglerfish LED strand and end kit, focal bead (1), additional beads and bead caps to complete one necklace, complete written instructions with step-by-step photographs, use of instructor's tools and consumables in class.
One seat per person per class.
