Description:
The class is designed to teach students complex braiding techniques and how to transform these into designs that define their own personal style.
Students will Learn:
Mapping and recording of braiding patterns, how to create symmetrical and asymmetrical jewelry following the design principles of balance, visual weight and direction, creatiive techniques for incorporating unusual materials, adding braided sections, creating tassels.
Prerequisites:
Students should have experience using a marudai.
Project completion:
Project will not be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 18 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Marudai, 8 or more weighted tama, 40% counterweight; task lamp; beading mat; scissors; magnification if needed. A variety of beads for planning a unique project in your color palette. Note taking materials and photo documentation encouraged.
Materials in Kit:
Toho seed beads, bead spinner needles, Big Eye needles, plastic bobbins, flexible cores, and a few surprises for your kumihimo tool kit.
Limit:
One seat per person per class.
