Additional Information
In this hands-on class learn and explore the age old application of forging heavy gauge bronze wire and how it relates to jewelry design, form, and structure. This technique of flattening round wire allows for a handmade rustic look and feel. Build a bangle bracelet and a circular form using negative and positive space, and most importantly learn how to finish your necklace and choker forms.
Students will Learn:
Learn how to forge heavy gauge wire; draw a bead for attachment; how to combine leather and forged wire to complete a necklace form; create handmade component links; learn techniques to form a bangle bracelet.
Project completion:
Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 16 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Bench block and pillow, hammer, wire snips, center punch, wooden ring mandrel, work surface.
Chainnose, standard round needlenose.
Materials in Kit:
10-, 16-gauge bronze wire; 20-gauge silver wire for attaching links; end caps; leather; expendables such as liver of sulfur, sandpaper.
One seat per person per class.
