Description:
Add a “twist” to an elegant ring with a fun, kinetic mechanism. The forged and fabricated gingko leaf actually spins around the bezel-set center stone by the movement of your hand! It’s a ring, it’s a toy, and it’s sure to provide you with many hours of distracted delight.
Students will Learn:
Learn how to create whimsical motion mechanisms in rings as you practice skills in sawing, hammering, forming, soldering, stone setting and finishing.
Prerequisites:
Experience in sawing and soldering.
Project completion:
Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 18 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Bench block, bench pin, flush-cut wire cutters, jeweler's saw, mandrels, metal files, safety glasses, terry-cloth towel, dividers, mm ruler or digital calipers, small metal square, stone setting punches or burnishing tool, wooden and metal ring mandrels, cross peen/goldsmithing hammer, rawhide or nylon mallet.
Pliers:
Ring bending.
Materials in Kit:
Sterling sheet, wire, tubing; fine-silver bezel cup; gemstome cabochon; shared studio consumables: butane, flux, solder, patina, full written instructions.
Limit:
One seat per person per class.
