Description:
La Belleza de los Muertos means “Beauty of the Dead”. Beautiful sugar skulls are often used to decorate the gravestones of the deceased and many are decorated with flowers meant to symbolize life. Nancy’s beaded sugar skull with flower patterns is surrounded by deeply bezeled 14 mm Swarovski rivolis. You will use tubular peyote with Nancy’s Pinch-in-the-Ditch technique for the side flowers and sculptural peyote for the hollow 3-D sugar skull.
Students will Learn:
Learn small scale 3-D sculpture in peyote stitch, chenille stitch ropes, and Pinch-in-the-Ditch bezeling techniques.
Prerequisites:
Proficient with tubular peyote stitch.
Project completion:
Project will not be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 18 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
#11-12 beading needles, awl, microcrystalline wax, reading glasses, task lamp, wire snips, work surface.
Pliers:
Roundnose.
Materials in Kit:
Japanese seed beads in 7 colors, 5 14mm rivolis, Swarovski crystals, head pins, sterling silver cable chain, One-G thread, sterling silver clasp.
Limit:
One seat per person per class.
