Description:
Tired of pre-made bezels? Make your own in this one day class. Tired of ordinary bezel settings? Kick them up a notch by learning to add a border and a sparkly tube-set CZ. There is a border for every student. Whether its the square wire border or the free-form border with some easy texturing or the more challenging half-bead wire border, the instructor will walk you step-by-step through the process to your finished piece in this class suitable for the confident beginner and beyond.
Students will Learn:
This class focuses on developing soldering skills to fabricate a bezel setting, then embellish it with a border and tube setting. Students learn the safe use of a butane torch as well as develop an understanding of heat control as it pertains to successful soldering. Other related metalsmithing skills such as cutting, shaping, filing, and proper stone setting techniques are also covered.
Prerequisites:
Previous soldering experience helpful.
Project completion:
Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 18 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Instructor provides all tools for use in class. Students are encouraged to bring eye magnification and a portable light.
Materials in Kit:
24-gauge sterling silver; 14-gauge half bead sterling silver wire; 14-gauge square sterling silver wire; 16-gauge round sterling silver wire; sterling silver tube setting; CZ; sheet solder; fine-silver bezel wire; cabochon; jump ring; bail.
Limit:
One seat per person per class.
