Description:
No-Fear Riveting is here! Turn your creativity loose with the Riveting Essentials patented riveting process that makes riveting virtually foolproof. This introduction to riveting explores how to accurately measure and form traditional wire rivets, how to make and use ball-headed rivets, and how to rivet a bezel cup in place. Yes, you will learn to use bezels without solder! Along the way, students will learn easy texturing techniques, along with some basic metalsmithing skills.
Students will Learn:
Students will leave class with a thorough understanding of the use and fabrication of rivets from wire; and will develop a repertoire of texturing and related metalsmithing skills, including cutting and filing; as well as creative methods to alter everyday shapes to create eye-catching shapes.
Project completion:
Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 18 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Instructor provides all tools for use in class. Students are encouraged to bring eye magnification and a portable light .
Materials in Kit:
24-gauge copper sheet; 26-gauge sterling silver sheet; 14-, 16-, 18-, 20-gauge round copper wire; 14-, 16-, 18-gauge sterling silver wire; 14-, 16-, 18-gauge fine-silver wire; bezel cup; cabochon; leather cord; jump rings; bead caps, daisy spacers for riveting.
Limit:
One seat per person per class.
