Description:
Tab setting is a way to add a cabochon to niobium which cannot be soldered. Cut, file, and sand to create your pendant. Texture it and anodize it to harmonize with your chosen cabochon. The pendant features a hidden riveted niobium bail sized to accommodate a SilverSilk chain.
Students will Learn:
Students will create a tab setting for their cabochon. The niobium will be prepared, textured, and then anodized.
Project completion:
Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 16 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
6-in. ruler, fine-tip marker, flush-cut wire cutters, task lamp.
Pliers:
Chainnose without grooves, standard roundnose.
Materials in Kit:
24-gauge unanodized niobium sheet, 16-gauge unanodized niobium wire, gemstone or resin cabochon,18-in. SilverSilk capture chain, 2 crimp ends, unanodized niobium hook-and-eye clasp.
Limit:
One seat per person per class.
