Description:
If you are interested in learning about how to work with hypoallergenic niobium this is your introduction. Learn how basic metalworking techniques can be applied to niobium wire and sheet. Then experience the magic of anodizing your creations to colorful brilliance. Students will cut, drill, shape, texture, file, and sand niobium wire and sheet to prepare pieces for anodizing. Cold connections will be introduced.
Students will Learn:
Basic metalworking tools will be used to cut, drill, shape, texture, file, and sand niobium sheet and wire. The bath anodizing technique will be used to introduce color to your creations.
Project completion:
Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 16 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
6-in. ruler, fine-tip marker, flush-cut wire cutters, task lamp.
Pliers:
Chainnose without grooves, standard roundnose.
Materials in Kit:
16-, 18-, 20-gauge unanodized niobium wire; 24-, 30-gauge unanodized niobium sheet.
Limit:
One seat per person per class.
