Additional Information
Description:
This clever variation on the traditional Edo-yatsu Kumihimo braid introduces a "twist" in the structure by adding a separate contrasting element on one axis. The turning sections of the braid can be of any length, and can be varied in length to create an even more dimensional look to the braid. The fiber in the example is rayon, or imposter silk, but the same effect can be achieved using almost any fiber combination. This braid can be done either on the foam disc or the marudai. Instructions will be provided for both.
Students will Learn:
Students will have the option to work on either the marudai or foam disc. The course will cover the basic Edo-yatsu braid, how to alter the orientation of the braid with a separate element offset on one side and how to incorporate a core into the braid to control the beginning and end of the structure.
