Description:
Come and learn the art of cold connections -- riveting! No glues or heat -- just you and your hammer. Use the skills you learn to attach metals, plastic, and even glass. Along with learning different types of riveting, you will also explore different methods of texturing and coloring metals. Combine all these skills to create a unique, eclectic bracelet of your own design. A great class for the novice or someone looking to refine their skills.
Students will Learn:
Explore a number of different methods of texturing and stamping metal, then move into learning different types of riveting; learn some fun methods of applying color to your pieces; how to combine pieces into a bracelet of your own design.
Project completion:
Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 16 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Riveting hammer, bench block, block pad, hole punch for 14-gauge metal (1/16-in., 1.80 mm hole size- twist down type is best), flush wire cutters. Optional: Instructor will bring a limited number of the following tools for the class to share: household hammer, emery board file, 3/32-in. hole punch, plastic mallet, metal texturing hammer, chasing hammer, heavy-duty flush cutters,
Pliers:
Optional: Roundnose, chainnose, flatnose, dimpling, large wrap-n-tap.
Materials in Kit:
Copper, brass, nickel sheet metal; copper wire, jump rings; assorted charms and spacers (these will vary from kit to kit); assorted rivets.
Limit:
One seat per person per class.
