Description:
Learn how to make two and three-toned base lampworked beads with handmade cane, silver foil, and frit. Imprint the beads with a paw print tool and etch for a matte finish. Create a theme for your beads by just using a different imprint tool. Class involves the use of a torch with open flame and gases. Wear safety (didymium) glasses, cotton clothing, and closed-toe shoes. Tie long hair back.
Students will Learn:
How to make a base lampworked bead with two or three colors using a press; how to add silver foil, frit, and handmade cane to create an earthy look. The glass is imprinted with a paw print tool and etched for a matte finish. The focus of the class is to learn ways to make beads with a variety of themes using imprint tools.
Prerequisites:
Basic lampworking skills on a torch with the ability to make a bead.
Project completion:
Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 18 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Didymium glasses, graphite marvers, mandrels, mashers, personal lampworking tools, raking tools, micro-mini paw print imprint tool (bring or pre-order at www.leonardolampwork.com). There will only be a few imprint tools to use in class so if pre-ordered, instructor will bring to class.
Materials in Kit:
Silver foil; dark ivory, copper green, red roof tile glass rods; raku frit; fine-silver wire.
Limit:
One seat per person per class.
