Additional Information
Learn the basics of blowing borosilicate glass with a torch by making a variety of styles of blown glass birds. This is Andrew’s most popular class and will fill up fast! Plan to have lots of fun, learn a lot, break some glass, and make some beautiful one-of-a-kind birds. Squawk! Class involves the use of a torch with open flame and gases. Wear safety (didymium) glasses, cotton clothing, and closed-toe shoes. Tie long hair back.
Students will Learn:
Learn the basics of blowing borosilicate glass on a torch. Students will work off the end of a glass tube. The class will also discuss and practice “pulling points” from a tube to make bubbles from which to work.
Some experience with a duel-fuel torch suggested.
Project completion:
Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 18 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Personal lampworking tools, didymium glasses, tweezers, graphite pads and paddle, reamers, metal soup can.
Materials in Kit:
Clear, colored glass.
One seat per person per class.
