Additional Information
Students will make lampworked leaves, birds, and other small animals. Andrew will discuss making strong connections for strong pieces, and then you will make a small assembled sculpture with some of these components. Plan to have a lot of fun and make a few cool things while you’re at it! Class involves the use of a torch with open flame and gases. Wear safety (didymium) glasses, cotton clothing, and closed-toe shoes. Tie long hair back.
Students will Learn:
Learn the basics of sculpting with borosilicate glass on a torch. Students will make a variety of animals and other components and learn about good connections and welds.
Experience working on a dual-fuel torch.
Project completion:
Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 18 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Personal lampworking tools, didymium glasses, tweezers, mashers, graphite pads and paddle, metal soup can.
Materials in Kit:
Clear, colored glass.
One seat per person per class.
