Description:
Combine multiple techniques and mixed media to create this charming and nostalgic necklace. The colors of the project resemble romantic meadows in Scotland, full of mysterious, sweet heather flowers. You will practice your skills while creating shaped beads and seed bead components using new colors and shapes that allow you to add numerous layers to your piece. Finish your necklace by designing a custom-made clasp.
Students will Learn:
This class will focus on a variety of techniques, like setting crystal chatons and creating unique, beaded components. Students will also design a custom-made beaded clasp, learn how to properly open and close jump rings, use Demi beads and 2 mm round beads as accent beads, and exercise their skills to utilize metal filigrees in unexpected ways.
Prerequisites:
Previous experience with right-angle weave, knowledge of basic bead-weaving techniques.
Project completion:
Project will not be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 18 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
#11 beading needles, beading mat, Fireline 6 lb. test, scissors, task lamp.
Pliers:
Bentnose, standard roundnose.
Materials in Kit:
Brass filigree; 2-hole cabochons; glass teardrops; 2 mm druk beads; SuperDuos; Nib-Bit beads; 11/0, 15/0 seed beads; Demi beads; brass chain; jump rings; 8 mm crystal chatons; chaton settings; 4 mm crystal pearls; 4 mm druk beads.
Limit:
One seat per person per class.
