Description:
From patterning metal to milling your own sheet, the rolling mill can be one of the most useful tools in a jeweler’s studio. Students will get a basic understanding of the mill, cover the many uses of the mill, and receive mill tips and tricks to maximize efficiency and increase studio productivity.
Students will Learn:
Introduction to types of mills, how they are used, and how to clean and care for them. Students will practice using the mill in a variety of ways to texture metal; mill sheet; and form, pattern and taper wire.
Project completion:
Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 16 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Bench block, rawhide hammer, terry-cloth towel. Students may bring (or purchase from the instructor) other non-ferrous metals to work with other than the copper in the kits.
Materials in Kit:
Copper sheet, copper wire, handouts.
Limit:
One seat per person per class.
