From calibrated sizes to unique free-forms -- improve your stone-setting skills and gain confidence in your ability to consistently make well-crafted, custom bezel settings. We will discuss the distinctive features of various cabochons as you learn to fabricate bezel settings like a pro to create superior one-of-a-kind designer pieces.
Students will Learn:
What shapes to look for when buying cabochons and how to choose the right bezel heights for your stones; exercises in designing with cabochons; demonstrations of special finishing techniques; examples of advanced bezel settings. Students are welcome to bring some of their own stones for help in finding the best bezel solution, and to begin the design process for future work at the bench.
Previous soldering experience.

Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 16 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Anvil pillow, bench block, bench pin, metal files, paper, pencils, plastic hammer, safety glasses, scissors, terry-cloth towel, wire snips. scissors or shears to cut light-gauge metal, mallet, scribe, round bezel mandrel, steel burnisher and/or bezel rocker.
Roundnose, standard needlenose.
Materials in Kit:
Copper bezel strip, sheet, stampings; fine-silver bezel strip; sterling silver wire; pair of earring wires; oval jump ring; five calibrated cabochon gemstones; free-form gemstone cabochon; sandpaper; polishing cloth; measuring tape; consumables for use in class, including flux, solder, butane, and patina; instructions.
One seat per person per class.
