Students will Learn:
How to get personal copy onto metal for etching with the best and most up-to-date techniques using common office supplies, the best conditions for etching, which metals can be etched, proper metal gauge for etching, and finishing techniques. Also, basic metalworking skills including filing, sanding, finishing, ring sizing, and soldering a shank to make a ring.
Knowledge of soldering techniques, good hand/eye coordination.
Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 18 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Bench block, chasing hammer, cutters, metal files, rubber stamps, StazOn ink pad and bottle refill, long soldering tweezers (cross-lock or regular). Optional: Ring mandrel if you have one.
Materials in Kit:
Various metal types to make two rings, silver-filled 14-gauge wire for ring shanks.
One seat per person per class.
