Make a multi-layered, tapestry or textile patterned pendant with cold connections using copper, brass or nickel sheet. A series of unique, fabric textured rubber mats will be available to add contrast and definition to each layer of the pendant.
Students will Learn:
How to use rubber texture mats to etch multiple pieces of metal using Ferric Chloride; two or three metal sheets will be etched, oxidized, layered and connected using wire rivets. A variety of rolled hinge options will be used to connect the pendant with handmade bails and a beaded copper chain. One pendant/necklace will be made with a combination of the etched metals using silver wire for a bail and hinge. Professional finishing of the metal will be emphasized for all metal components.
Project will be completed in class
