This elegant necklace is created using basic techniques of bead embroidery and uses a variety of glass and porcelain beads to surround three beautiful glass cabochons. A six-bead spiral rope completes the piece, along with floral bead caps for a perfect finish.
Students will Learn:
Basic embroidery techniques such as gluing, back stitch, couching, how to back the finished piece, brick stitch, bead placement, and how to create their own unique cabochons like the ones used in the project. Students will also learn how to create a six-bead spiral rope to finish the project.
Familiarity with bezeling and peyote helpful.
Project will not be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 12 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Assorted beading needles, #10 beading needles, beading mat, E6000 adhesive, Fireline 6 lb. test, scissors, task lamp. Optional: Reading glasses and/or magnifiers if needed.
Materials in Kit:
Prepared glass cabochons (3); fire-polished 2-3 mm beads; 8/0, 11/0, 15/0 Japanese seed beads; porcelain flowers; silver-plate end caps; S-hook closure; substrate material; leather backing; products to experiment with in class to make your own cabochons; written instructions with photographs.
