Make a stunning, twisting, tubular bracelet with diagonal slits using wire-weaving techniques. Then add a splash of color by nestling beads of your choosing within the bracelet.
Students will Learn:
The modified Soumak weave and how to manipulate the wire as they weave to create a twisting, tubular bracelet with diagonal openings; some torch work basics will be taught as we ball the ends of the base wires to create finished ends for the bracelet.
Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 18 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Bench block, chasing hammer, cutters, metal files, Optivisors, permanent marker (pointed), ruler, task lamp, selection of beads ranging from 2 mm to 5 mm to nestle inside the slits of the bracelet (beads need to fit on a 24-gauge wire).
Chainnose, nylon-jaw wire straightener, roundnose.
Materials in Kit:
Sterling silver wire, fine-silver wire, kumihimo bobbins, sterling silver chain.
