Adrienne Gaskell’s jewelry designs explore the ancient Japanese art of kumihimo braiding which she has expanded upon to incorporate gemstones, pearls, and beads. With Makiko Tada, she has helped popularize this ancient process and bring it into the realm of modern jewelry design. Her designs have been featured in the “Showcase 500 Art Necklaces” by Lark Books, Bead&Button's BeadDreams competition, and the Toho Design Challenge. She exhibits her award winning jewelry at juried art shows and select galleries across the county.
She has been teaching at the Bead&Button Show since 2006, which was the impetus that encouraged her to leave her successful marketing career and take the plunge as a fulltime jewelry artist. Adrienne has taught kumihimo workshops at the International Braids 2012 conference in Manchester England, as well as the Japanese Kumihimo Society and Toho Bead Company in Kyoto, Tokyo and Hiroshima Japan.
