April has loved beads since she was a little girl working with yarn, plastic pearls, and macaroni. Her work has since graduated to beading wire, glass, crystals, semi-precious stones, and silver clay. Her jewelry business, Ruby Dragon Designs, was created in 2001 to bring her designs to a broader audience. In 2005, she earned her Precious Metal Clay Level I certification which was very exciting. Not only did this certification hone her skills, it also earned her the right to teach PMC techniques in her classes. In 2011, she took a glass fusing class at the Bead&Button Show and was immediately hooked. She has gone on to create bold and unique glass designs in her basement kiln.
April has taught classes with both adults and children on all types of projects including bead weaving, stringing, wire wrapping, and metal clay throughout Wisconsin. Locations to find her classes include local bead shops around the Milwaukee area, the rapidly growing Madison Art Glass and Bead show, and the nationally known Milwaukee Bead&Button Show, both held annually. Her students often remark on her patience, calm demeanor, and ability to find different ways to explain techniques to beginners and more experienced students alike.
