PREVIEW THIS YEAR'S CLASS SELECTION
Learn the ancient technique of Viking knit, a dramatic method of wire weaving that all can achieve. In this workshop, you will take it a step further by learning to embellish your pieces, making them real show stoppers. Embellish with beads, adorn with a handmade dangle, and finish off with a clasp you have made.

The Ndebele herringbone cord in this project is stable yet delicate. The beauty is that it provides a perfect bed for additional work. The thick, gentle, twisting beadwork is almost like a piece of coral that provides nooks and crannies for dozens of different clinging mosses, assorted flowers, leaves, and buds. This is a perfect opportunity to make many peyote stitch leaves in several variations. You’ll use several techniques to make the roses, which range from small and delicate to large and luscious. So get ready to make your own version of this show-stopper piece. Basic peyote stitch and Ndebele herringbone stitch experience are a must here. |
This borosilicate-glass necklace is a definite show stopper. Students will learn to take their kumihimo skills to a new level. They will choose from a variety of colors and beads to design their own unique necklace and learn tips and tricks for working with large beads on the marudai. Students will also explore weights and adjustments, thread vs. cord, and formula variations. Comprehensive instructions will be provided. Prerequisite: Students should have experience with kumihimo braiding. Students will leave class wearing their new necklace! Additional session offered Thursday, June 10 (B1033). |
