2012 Commemorative Bead
2012 Commerative Bead by Michael Barley

Michael started making glass beads in 1990 but his interest in beads started a few years earlier. He was a potter at the time and after a trip to Japan, came home with an interest in clay beads. He started mixing up different colored porcelain and making clay beads.

It was through clay beads that he developed a friendship with Sage who had just begun making lampworked beads. Over the next few years, he crossed paths with Sage at various craft fairs and his interest in glass beads kept growing. A lesson with Sage in 1990 was the beginning of Michael's glass beadmaking journey and the excitement and exploration hasn't stopped since.

Michael was a co-instructor with Angela Guarino for the Glass Master Class in 2011 and is a regular instructor at the Show.
