PREVIEW THIS YEAR'S CLASS SELECTION
Off-Mandrel Floral Pendant
The instructor will break down step-by-step one of her well-known beads and focus on students’ own understanding of design. This will be a technique-oriented class where students will learn how to build multilayered floral pendant designs. Beginning to advanced flameworking techniques will be explained and demonstrated, such as ribbed canes, use of a punty, heat control, clear encasement, simple stamen murrini cane and its application, construction of a glass bail, simple implosion flower design, and the ball flower widely used in paperweight construction. Students will combine a variety of techniques to complete a three-dimensional flower pendant. Some flameworking experience is required. Class involves the use of a torch with open flame and gases. Wear safety (didymium) glasses, cotton clothing, and closed-toe shoes. Tie long hair back.
Columns of Color: Polymer and PMC Pendant
Combine polymer clay and PMC to create a unique, sophisticated pendant. Learn form making, basic building techniques with PMC, and color blending with the mica technique in polymer. Then sand and buff your pendant to a glass-like shine.
Dragon's Treasure Bracelet
Made from sparkling metallic Delicas, brick stitch tube beads are banded with gold and linked with golden treasure ladders. Hidden clasps keep the dragon’s hoard safe and secure. Prerequisite: Previous bead-weaving experience is highly recommended. Additional session offered Saturday morning, June 7 (B08790).
